Hi there! I study the causes and consequences of power inequity using economic theory, causal inference, and experimental methods. My work is primarily at the intersection of development and behavioral economics, with a strong interest in the role of informal institutions and state capacity.
Areas of ongoing research include:
When gender norms constrain labor supply;
How local conflict affects educational investments; and
Why mental models matter for fiscal sustainability.
I graduated from the International and Development Economics (IDE) program at Yale University and the Bachelor of International Economics (BIE) program at the University of British Columbia. Previously, I worked at the Economic Growth Center, Bank of Canada, and Analysis Group.
I organize a monthly applied game theory seminar. I'm also part of a program that helps prepare students from underrepresented backgrounds apply to doctoral studies (read more here).
Outside of work, I play intercollegiate football, regularly attend live jazz nights, and host a podcast.
